What Is The Weather Like In February In London?

The weather in London in February is typically cool and damp, with average temperatures ranging from 3°C to 7°C (37°F to 45°F). There can be occasional rain or drizzle, and it can be quite cloudy and overcast, but there can also be some sunny spells. Those are typical temperatures but so far we have also had days start and end in -3° and -1°.

When visiting London in Winter, or in this case visiting in February, it’s a good idea to bring warm and waterproof clothing, as well as comfortable footwear that will not only keep you warm but that are also steady, as the streets can be wet and slippery with a black frost.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather, February is still a great time to visit London, with plenty of indoor activities, such as museums, shopping malls, art galleries, and theaters, to keep you entertained.

And if you’re lucky, you may even get to experience a few brief glimpses of sunshine and blue skies, making it a perfect time to explore the city’s many parks and gardens.

We have already covered the weather above but it’s always variable, as I write this we are already in February and have been having amazing sunny days in London. Mind you it’s still very cold but at least it’s sunny. Fingers crossed it stay that way for the rest of the month because in previous years we have had cold and snowy days with lots of rain in between.

In terms of number of tourists in London, its slightly lower as the NYE travel has been good, and most of those who travel to ring in the new year have gone back home. This means that when travelling to London in February you may experience shorter or nonexistent queues, at the airport, museums, london underground tubes and many attractions across the city.

 

When it comes to where to stay in London, you may also find that hotels are also a lot cheaper too when travelling during this month. In saying that, as long as you either book in advance or are travelling before or after Valentine’s dates. As Valentines Day seems to usher in higher prices in hotels and restaurants that are booked solidly.

Also note that the school half term falls around 11-19 February and during this time, you may find that museums, and many London attractions such as the famous London Eye are super busy so if you are travelling around this time bare this in mind and book tickets in advance to avoid getting stuck in long queues.

Other than Valentine’-day and half-term dates, February is one of the best times to visit London.

Whether you are in London for 2 days or doing a 3-day itinerary, you simply cannot miss out on The London Eye. Located on the lively setting of South Bank of the Thames it is currently the largest Ferris wheel in Europe, with a height of 135 meters (443 feet).

From the top of the wheel, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city, including famous landmarks such as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, and the Tower of London. Be sure to avoid the queue and book your ticket in advance.
