Rich inhabitants of wealthy Chelsea, South Kensington, and Notting Hill had mews built as stables and carriage houses back then. The mode of transport for wealthy people in London was a horse-drawn carriage.

Kynance Mews
One of the most famous and prettiest mews in London is Kynance Mews. With its worldwide popularity, this spot becomes so crowded in spring months when wisteria blooms hits and most of the street explodes in a riot of purple blooms. This mews is extra busy in both spring and fall, and yet so beautiful and charming in these times.
You can still effortlessly enjoy the beauty of Kynance Mews even without the wisteria – as the spring blossoms just kick the aesthetics into hyperdrive. I highly recommend you don’t miss out this gorgeous place!
Closest stations: Gloucester Road station
St Luke’s Mews
Located close to Holland Park, Notting Hill has more of the best mews in London. St Luke’s Mews is well-known for its unforgettable appearance in Love Actually. This mews is absolutely a firm favourite with film fans, influencers, and tourists.
Whilst the whole row is absorbing, its rose-pink House Number 27 is a great place if you’re hoping to hunt down some film history. I bet that would be the sweetest pink house you’ve ever seen in the city. While in the area be sure to check out the cute cafes of Notting Hill, many of which offer beautiful backdrops for your Instagram.

Ennismore Mews
Located near the domineering basilica-style Dormition Cathedral, Ennismore mews is a nice place that provides a calm counterpoint. This cute Knightsbridge mews has many beautiful pastel-painted houses. Its previously stable doors have largely been converted into big windows. These windows are not only amazing from the inside but also let loads of light into these little lodges.
This unusual, cute cobbled street is popular among those who want to photograph an iconic London scene. Ennismore Mews has 43 residential properties that feature Victorian architecture with wrought-iron terraces and arched windows and beautiful door frames. The houses’ rounded balconies, mainly on upper windows, are great and totally made for relaxing wistfully there on a summer’s night.
Pastel-coloured houses are often ornamented with plants and this made an unforgettable view of Ennismore Mews. This Mews also sits behind one of the most beautiful churches in London, the Holy Trinity Church. Therefore, you would have two for the price of one deal!

Kendrick Mews & Reece Mews
These two adjoining streets come as a pair, and you’ll notice you’ve found them when you see the big ski mural while entering the cobbled lane.
The artwork is very popular in social media and you can also find a smaller and less splashy tribute on its right – a beautiful painting of artist Francis Bacon.
He lived on Reece Mews for years and his last studio is at Number 7 which is also marked with a blue plaque in recognition of its history.

Conduit Mews
Cute pastel houses surrounding the length of the street make Conduit Mews a treat for the eyes. This beautiful mews is one of a kind that holds a hint of its old background by turning the stable doors into garages or doorways rather than just filling them in. Although it isn’t as magnificent as some of the Belgravia mew, the charming pastel colours of Conduit Mews’ make it unique in its own way.
Closest station: Paddington
Warren Mews
If you follow any London Instagram influencer, you’ve certainly seen the striking black façade almost on all of their pages before. The Warren Mews street itself is very pretty, but in contrast to many of the other London mews streets on this list, the money shot here is found before you even enter.
Its entrance is regularly snapped by tourists and passersby thanks to its unique entrance. The admired gallery owner Rebecca Hossack owns this black-painted beauty with trailing greenery.
She is well-known for championing aboriginal art. Only a 10-minute walk away from the mews, you’ll pop into her art galleries on nearby 28 Charlotte Street and Conway Street. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Holland Park Mews
Another one of the best mews in London that has a heavyweight on the Instagram scene is Holland Park Mews. It has been featured on screen in at least two movies and remains quite delightful to this day – especially as it has easy reach within the nearby Kyoto Garden.
Built in the 1860s and 70s, Holland Park Mews is another best-preserved example in the city. It beckons you in through the historic archway. This mews is also distinguished from the rest on this list in that plenty of the houses are accessed by external steps – which have unavoidably been co-opted for photography. While you are in the area, dont forget to check out the Design Museum and Leighton House which is among the most beautiful stately homes in London.

Bathurst Mews, Paddington
There’s almost no escaping this one: With 65 properties, Bathurst is one of the largest and best Mews in London.
Bathurst Mews is kind of the few ones staying mostly true to its historic roots. In addition to a nice tack store, the street has two of the last horse stables and riding schools in central London. Its arched entryways at either end are somehow nondescript in comparison with other Mews. However, once you’re in Bathurst Mews, you’ll have a good chance of finding some horses.
It’s just a stone’s throw away from Hyde Park and the whole place is a nostalgic reminder of how these spots once looked. Also nearby is the lovely Little Venice in London with its beautiful long boats.

Stanhope Mews
Of all the mews in London, the pretty Stanhope Mews has the best museums. The street has a stone’s throw from the capital city’s “golden triangle” of museums – the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum, and the V&A.
These cream-coloured streets with their pretty cobbled and plant-laden pavements are spectacular in the spring and summer months. Its surroundings are packed with grand terraces and garden squares that are within Kensington’s Queen’s Gate Conservation Area.

Atherstone Mews
So much different from neighbouring Cromwell Road, Atherstone Mews has the cutest cobbled street and colourful lodges that by now you know are de rigueur for London.
Although its residents have been known to stray from the pretty pastels, you can still find stormy dark blue and vibrant yellow houses here.

Albion Mews
One of the best mews in London that has a cute entrance is Albion Mews. The two appealing bay trees marking its entrance do little to prepare you for the amazing space inside.
The explosion of greenery to be found inside this street is gorgeous. Albion mews London is one of the city’s greenest and most attractive mews. It has 16 properties that are used for residential purposes.
